Kōkatat is a manufacturer that produces high quality paddle sports apparel. The company has been manufacturing products for the outdoor sports industry for over 40 years. Kōkatat has kept production local in order to control quality, advantage just-in-time production process, and meet changing customer demand for product with speed and efficiency not possible with contracted overseas production.
Today, 90% of Kōkatat’s product line is handmade in the Arcata factory with local and regional manufacturing partners. All Kōkatat products are manufactured to exacting quality standards, developed by paddlers for paddlers.

Kōkatat is an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 certified company. This certification validates their commitment to quality products and to providing industry leading customer satisfaction under the guidance of a quality management system.
Kōkatat has been able to maintain a low carbon footprint, relative to other companies manufacturing outdoor apparel sourced offshore. Kōkatat has been attentive to maximizing production efficiency and attempts to efficiently control use of resources. Kōkatat has maximized energy efficiency within their facilities (lighting, pressurized air) and has one of the largest solar photovoltaic systems in the region. The photovoltaic system powers much of the manufacturing equipment used in the production process. Kōkatat employs strict water conservation practices throughout the factory. The company provides an established platform of green practices, social equity and economic vitality to the region.

Some items are sourced in Asia. But, only for products that do not have scalable infrastructure here in the US and to support Kōkatat’s environmental commitment to Gaia® PVC free flotation foam for all our life vests, available exclusively through an Asian manufacturer.
